eglobe
The Web 2.0 site eGlobe displays ComterSoft’s proficiencies with graphic design, social networking, streaming video, and embedded multimedia content. This newly launched portal aims to be a networking site for people around the globe, and as such, must have a design with a broad appeal and intuitive interface. ComterSoft utilized our information architecture capabilities in to ensure that end users who upload data in all forms will be assured of their data’s integrity and will have easy access to it in a pleasing format.
The anticipated large amounts of user data required a sophisticated information architecture design and implementation to support the integrated blogs, photos, videos, audio clips, member groups, message boards, and their attendant data. We carried out the back end of the architecture through database design and server-side scripting. On the web portal interface itself, the streaming videos were uniformly presented and multiple video formats were converted to a single player by an intermediate FLV mechanism to avoid format and size mismatches. The smooth and consistent interface to the multimedia clips, clear labels and links, and secure data enable eGlobe to be at the forefront of the social networking movement.
diversity cleared
The aim of this new portal is to provide a point of interaction for security-cleared professionals of diverse backgrounds and the corporate employers who are looking to hire them. The site design incorporated numerous modules, including forums, online chats, banner ads, flash design, online forms, and advanced search mechanisms.
We built the framework for the site by customizing a Drupal content management system with programming of interfacing web applications in PHP, Perl, and Ajax. We anchored the site in a MySQL database, implementing strong security protocols to ensure that the right people will view the site’s sensitive personal resumes and job postings and maintain their integrity.
home2us
Home2US Inc is an organization that enable international broadcasters to market their television channels to subscribers in the United States, broadcasting more than 55 digital quality international TV and radio channels as the fastest growing international digital television platform in the U.S. since its launch in 2003. Of course for such a media-oriented product, they wanted their web presence to be similarly media-focused. We revamped the site’s content management system so that client staff, provided a fresh look in graphic design, could modify content and are in the process of implementing new site features. These features include: image galleries, a customized Drupal e-commerce interface, online forms, banner ads, and discussion forums.
ComterSoft’s design of this web portal utilized single sign-on to control access to the data, and enabled business owners to easily update and modify content. ComterSoft defined different levels of users to edit or add content to the website in various areas.
corporatefever
Corporate Fever’s aim is primarily to inform the public with their newly launched portal. In order to catch users’ attention, the packaging of that information is key. ComterSoft used our graphic design capabilities, including flash headers, a unified color scheme, and a consistent interface for all the modules of the site. These modules include many Web 2.0 aspects, such as real-time social networking, and collaborative bulletin boards.
In addition, the content management system we developed, while allowing for both client staff and users to update content in various forms, ensures that all the content is streamlined into one uniform appearance. As a part of that content management system, ComterSoft built small interface applications and adapters (with Visual Basic scripts) that successfully integrated back office components to the front-end web interface. The images in our graphic design leveraged Adobe technologies, offering a pleasing user interface.
helenhayes
The Helen Hayes Awards (HHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and honoring local D.C.-area professional theaters. ComterSoft personnel, working pro bono, utilized their content management skills to fine-tune the content of the website. ComterSoft Account Manager worked closely with HHA staff to coordinate all aspects of the researching, writing, and web publishing of the information about HHA itself, about the historical Helen Hayes, and about D.C.-area theaters. However, HHA’s needs and vision have grown beyond the current site, and they turned to ComterSoft to design and implement a more sophisticated, Web 2.0-driven portal.
This portal is still in its development stages, but the sandbox version already displays flash video headers, multimedia content, and customized web applications. In addition to simple portal development, the goal is to create a network of local theaters, enabling greater advertisement, promotion, and communication both among the local theater organizations and between the organizations and the public. To achieve this goal, ComterSoft is leveraging and customizing open-source technologies such as Drupal and PHP so that each theater will be able to update and modify the content on that theater’s page in the network. In a similar vein, HHA website content itself will be easily modifiable by HHA staff. To facilitate easy communication with the audience, ComterSoft is implementing online forms to sign up for newsletters and similar benefits.
